Product Description
This Powerpoint Presentation includes a list of author's tone words. This list could easily be printed out and distributed to students to include in their language arts notebook. There are 10 examples of lyrics of songs from artists such as Drake, Justin Timberlake, Bob Marley, etc. (The lyrics are school appropriate.) There are also poems from poets such as Shel Silverstein and Jack Prelutsky.

The last slide would be a great summarizer for students to "Think-Pair-Share" and look for text evidence to determine how they selected the author's tone.

The slides could also be printed out and turned into a "read the room" activity where students are up and moving around and working together to determine the tone used.

This presentation would also be great to use to introduce any unfamiliar vocabulary. Students could select 3 tone words that are new to them and investigate the meaning of the vocabulary words.
