Description

This lesson is designed for children in 2nd to 5th grade or KS2 in the UK. It is part of a wider Geography unit called Mountains Environments.

The presentation introduces the topic, explores children's prior knowledge of mountains and then introduces common features of mountains and mountain ranges.

In the activity, which is differentiated three ways, children identify the features of a mountain range.

Easy:

Children identify 8 features of a mountain range.

Medium:

Children identify 10 features of a mountain range.

Hard:

Children stick an image of a mountain range in their book and then label and write a definition of each feature.

Extension:

Children match the features of a mountain range to their definitions.
