If your students need practice understanding idioms and figurative language, "A Piece of Cake" is just what you need!
This memory matching game includes 20 game cards with idioms, 20 game cards with the meanings of those idioms, 4 blank game cards (for your own customization), directions, and answer key.
This is a perfect activity for Reading and Literature Centers in grades 3-6! Students may play in pairs or small groups. "A Piece of Cake" was a huge hit with my fifth graders.
As an ESL Certified teacher, I can also guarantee that ELL students will benefit greatly from this activity. Idioms and figurative language can be a difficult thing for students learning the English language to understand.
It is recommended that you laminate the cards once you have printed them, as the game can be used in centers, and will hold up longer.
If you are looking for other "sweet" themed Reading activities and printables, you may want to purchase a bundled package instead. "A Piece of Cake" is included in that bundle. To see that package, please click here
