    Help students learn common idioms with this fun file folder activity. Students match a puzzle piece with the meaning of the idiom. The puzzle pieces are self correcting. The game board is available in color and black and white. Recording sheets are also included. Great practice for English Language Learners.

    Idioms included are:
    Set 1- penny for your thoughts, two heads are better than one, speak of the devil, walking on eggshells, miss the boat, snowed under, raining cats and dogs, under the weather, at the end of your rope, open a can of worms, don‘t judge a book by its cover, a bird in the hand, drop of a hat, kill two birds with one stone, frog in your throat, fish out of water

    Set 2- time is money, steal someone's thunder, sick as a dog, needle in a haystack, time flies, pull someone's leg, last straw, hit the sack, heard it on the grapevine, head in the clouds, break a leg, from the horse's mouth, break the ice, burn the midnight oil, all ears, under the weather

    Set 3- when pigs fly, the class clown, taste of your own medicine, spill the beans, the elephant in the room, don‘t put all your eggs in one basket, rain check, on cloud nine, leave no stone unturned, in the same boat, hot potato, fish out of water, don‘t count your chickens before they hatch, comparing apples and oranges, apple of my eye, barking up the wrong tree
