This product is designed as an activity in coordination with figurative language based on idioms. Students research a self selected idiom to find its origin and how it came about.
You can extend this activity by having students tweet their idiom on your classroom Twitter page or write their idiom as a tweet on paper and post it around the classroom. You can also have students draw their literal versus figurative meaning of their idiom and hang it around the classroom.
We use ACER paragraphs so included on the sheet is a rubric that goes along with ACER format.
