Looking for a way to help your students understand figurative language? This resource is exactly what you need to help your students understand 60 idioms and their meanings! This resource is designed to be a ten minute daily routine that covers listening, speaking, reading and writing. Included in the powerpoint are 60 idioms and their definitions. Project it on to your white board, and read the idiom aloud and discuss the meaning. Use in an example if needed. Then, students record the idiom and meaning in their idiom of the day booklet, and they use it in their own sentence and draw a picture to go with it. To cover speaking and listening, I have every student read it aloud and I pick one to write on the white board, and that student gets to draw their picture! This activity is a perfect morning routine for students to get working right away on something meaningful, and it gives you a chance to take attendance and do your morning routine! Win win :)
