Idioms are a difficult concept for students to master. Yet, with weekly practice students become more and more familiar with the phrases and begin to recognize them on their own. Idioms of the Week allow students to become successful with difficult figurative language!
-50 Idiom Posters with idiom, definition, sentence example, and picture.
-Why so many? With the use of 50 idioms, you can pick and choose which idioms to introduce to your students. You can differentiate based on your grade level and use the easier idioms year-long, or as an upper-elementary teacher use the “easier” idioms on short weeks or the beginning of the year. (When I say “easier” I refer to commonly heard idioms students are more familiar with, like “when pigs fly.”)
