PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Idioms are part of our speaking, writing and reading lives. Students need to learn the meaning of commonly used idioms. The idioms I've chosen are the ones seen and heard often in the literature and conversations students encounter.

The first two idiom activities are used with the book Monkey Business by Wallace Edwards and you will need that book for the first two activities.

Activity 1--students first write what they think an idiom from the book means. Then there is space to write the real meaning of the idiom after a page from the book is read and shared.

Activity 2 is a set of task cards with 24 of the 25 idioms from the book. Students read a sentence with the idiom and then choose the meaning of the idiom.

The third and fourth activity use idioms from every day language and do not need the book by Wallace Edwards.

Activity 3--students make a mini-book with 28 common idioms and their real meanings.

Activity 4 is a set of task cards with the same 28 idioms so students can have a little more practice with understanding idioms.

There are a total of 52 idioms in this packet (24 from the book Monkey Business in activities 1 and 2 and 28 commonly used idioms in activities 3 and 4.)
