Product Description
This is a COMMON CORE ALIGNED game that includes 30 idioms. Each idiom is presented in four ways: the idiom in words, the meaning, a literal image, and the idiom used in a sentence.

The teacher decides on which cards she wants matched, depending on the grade level or skills of students.

The game can involve matching all four cards, the literal image and the idiom in words, or the idiom in words and its meaning.

These cards have letters on them to facilitate easy checking of answers. Each page can be printed and used as a poster as well. A recording sheet is also included so students can record their learning. Please see detailed Preview.

Just print on cardstock and cut. Or better yet, print, laminate, and cut. These cards will surely be a hit in your classroom. Use it all year round so students can master idioms.

Directions for Use

Number of Players: 2 or more
Objective of the Game: To win the most pairs
Contents: 120 cards

Shuffle the cards and lay out all the cards face down, so that no cards overlap. The first player turns over any two, three or four cards, one after the other, leaving the first card face up while the second card is turned, the third and so on. If the two, three or four cards match, then the player takes the cards and puts them face down in front of them in a pile and has another turn.

The player’s turn ends when the cards turned over do not match. After a pause for all players to see, these cards must be laid face down again in exactly the same position. It is then the next player’s turn.

When cards are turned over, it is important for players to remember where they are. Play continues until all the cards have been taken. The player with the most cards is the winner.

Note: This product is most appropriate for Grades 3 to 4 students; however, it can be used by advanced Grades 1 and 2 students and serve as review for Grades 5 to 6 students.
