: Are you working on idioms when studying figurative language? Idioms can be so much fun!! If so, your students will enjoy this fun idioms word search!! If your students are like mine, they love these.
In this idiom puzzle, words are found forward, backward, up, down, and diagonal. I would consider it on the challenging side since students are looking for phrases and not just words.
I use word searches to introduce vocabulary, or even just give it as morning work. They are also great to use in writing. Perfect for a sub, too. Have your students pick a couple of idioms from the list to use in their writing activity. Also, they can be used as a literacy center where can have them tell what each one means- the literal meaning. Use this figurative language word search however you would like in your classroom.
