Idioms can be so tricky to understand. Yet we hear them through out the day from friends, teachers, and in our reading. If you don’t know what the idiom is really saying you will be quickly lost. That’s when students with an expressive and receptive language delay lose track of the story line and answer higher level thinking questions related to stories that use these idioms wrong. Bilingual students often experience the same problem. While we often have “bigger fish to fry”(yup, I went there), we can’t neglect idioms completely. Here is a fun way to expose students to idioms. Enjoy!
