Product Description

This fun and engaging activity will reinforce your students’ knowledge of idioms, with practice and creativity that will definitely open their minds to learning!

This game is also available as part of my Ready-to-Go Lessons: Emergency, Sub Plans, & More. Check it out now!

The object of the game is to match the first half of an idiom with its corresponding second half. For example, the first half of the card might say “Don’t put all your eggs in.” Students must find the second half of that saying from a collection of other second halves (e.g., the bridge, one basket, the devil, etc.) Some of the options are a bit humorous, but a little laughter is good for learning – and for longevity.

Students can work solo or play in partners – or, if students are just learning about idioms, you might scaffold the lesson by thinking aloud the process, and proceed to partner and/or solo work. You can copy and pass out the key for self-checking if you’d like.
