If you like idioms, this is the list for you! This 10-page Master (cut and paste to create your own) Idioms Study List includes 300 idioms which I compiled from the Oxford Dictionary of Idioms (2nd Edition). You can use the list As-Is as a year-long study list for older or more advanced students, pick and choose to present an idiom (or idioms) of the week, or cut down the list to whatever number best suits your students and your needs (e.g. a quarterly idioms study list with a quarterly extra credit test).
Ideal for 8th grade and above. While idioms are a helpful subject for English Language Learners, please note that the language used in the definitions/meanings may need to be simplified to be suitable for these students.
The first 15 idioms of the list is provided as a FREE PREVIEW.
PLEASE NOTE: I've indicated that this document has 10 pages because on my Mac, in Word, the document has 10 pages. For some reason, however, only 8 pages appear in the TPT-generated thumbnails. Not a big issue, but I felt I should mention the discrepancy.
