Product Description
A fun Halloween themed figurative language lesson on idioms. It features 6 monsters commonly used in American idiomatic expressions.

Each slide has:
-a description
-an illustration
-uses the idiom in 1 or 2 sentences

In addition there is a guided lesson on writing a creative story using a monstrous idiom.

Featuring 2 graphic organizers:
-Circle brainstorming chart
-3 Column outlining chart

This lesson works well with all levels of language from E.S.L. to gifted and high achievers. It is high interest and stimulates language. I use it in October with my 6th graders as a vehicle to teach figurative language and to encourage creative writing. It is a fail proof lesson that always stimulates class discussions and reinforces the steps to writing wonderful short stories.

This product is a Microsoft PowerPoint Show and has a printable PDF version. It allows the user access the notes written for background information. It allows the presenter to: write on the slides, highlight information, and use a laser pointer while lecturing. It does not allow printing. To exit at any time press the ‘ESCAPE’ key on your keyboard.
