Idioms for the Whiteboard by Dianne Watson
Each page contains four idioms used in a sentence (context) followed by a definition. Each page is displayed on the whiteboard for students to view.
Suggested use is to blackout definition until students use the context clues of the sentence to determine the meaning of the idiom.
After students are allowed time to determine the meaning, then the definitions are revealed as instant feedback. This is an excellent way to teach/review using context clues to determine the meaning of an unfamiliar word, or in this case, phrase.
Suggested use is to either teach all at once or extend over a grading period perhaps as a bell ringer.
There are also 11 quizzes with answer keys.
