These four coloring pages can be used in conjunction with activities about the Iditarod.
Sled Dog Positions
The page shows the sled dogs' positions. It allows the students to color while learning about the location of the lead dogs, swing dogs, team dogs, and wheel dogs.
Burled Arch Finish Line
This coloring page is the Burled Arch which is the finish line in Nome, Alaska.
Red Lantern Award
The page has a picture of the red lantern that can be colored, and a brief description of the history of the award.
Musher Biography Flag
The students will select a musher to follow during the Iditarod. They will use the official race website to find their racer's biography. On the flag they will write/draw their person's name, hometown, age, and three facts. The can decorate and color the flag. I then hang the finished flags in my classroom in a row which resembles a finish line. They could also be displayed on a bulletin board.
