Product Description
Iditarod History, Grades 2-5 Readers Theater
"Togo–Sled Dog Hero, A True Story" in three parts

By Carol Montgomery

Iditarod comes alive in the classroom with these character-building stories.  The true story of Togo is divided into three, stand-alone parts with each part available in two readability levels.  Part one shows Togo's potential as a puppy. Part 2 is an ice adventure where Togo saves the entire dog team. Part 3 is an account of Togo's determination in the 1925 race. Togo became a key sled dog for the Great Race of Mercy during the 1925 diphtheria epidemic in Nome, Alaska.  He led his team more miles than any other team.  The annual Iditarod Race commemorates the historic "Great Serum Race" and travels the same trail.  Perfect for elementary readers and ELL students, "Togo–Sled Dog Hero, A True Story" provides opportunities for building confidence in students using small or large groups.
