The story of Balto is one of my very favorites. Bringing the history together with fun filled lessons is a wonderful way to get your students engaged. This file will take you through the basic history of Alaska and sled dogs. Students will become a sled dog during a Be a Musher listening activity. They will create a flag of Alaska and learn the positions of the sled dogs on the team.
Included you will also find a page by page guided reading response sheets for the book and vocabulary.
Students will work with an anticipations guide and also a book review.
