I hope this proves to be a fun and engaging project for your students to find out a bit more about the Iditarod and Alaska! This is meant to be a research-based activity, so it will be necessary for your kids to either research through books or by using the web to find the information needed about the Great Dog Sled Race and Alaska.
Each one of the craftivities is 4 pages long and includes fun and engaging information. Students need to research to find the information that is left out of the passage. One of the craftivities is about the Iditarod, and the other includes fun facts about the state of Alaska.
I would highly suggest using the following sites to research:
These are all great sites for kids to search, and are very safe!
For 2nd graders, you may need to provide a bit more support and research together as a group! :)
Once the kids have researched and have found all of the answers, they can then color, cut, and glue the craftivity together for display.
This activity is fun, informational, and engaging for students., It also provides a great hallway display!
