This graphic organizer asks students to build a visually-based story from a series of checks written by a peer. The graphic organizer provides 5 check templates for students to record their purchases (one class example and 4 of their own). Students are also given space to draw inferences from a peer's set of checks as well as reflect on the effectiveness of their checks to tell an intended story or provide characterization details. This graphic organizer can be a stand alone mini-lesson or used as a pre-reading activity for Hansberry's "A Raisin in the Sun."
This .pdf is available as a modifiable Word document in the lesson bundle with the same title. The bundle also includes a lesson plan and a paired text.
