If I Were A Scientist ....
Is a digital nonfiction book and lesson for PreK thru 2nd.
The book has real life photographs to help teach science and comes in PDF format to print as well as a link to the digital flip book that can be shown on a smart board or any computer with internet access. The book has 12 pages - 2 pages shown.
There are few nonfiction books to help teach science and research shows nonfiction is important in teaching children about S.T.E.M concepts. Along with the book for classroom use you will get a set of 5 posters explaining 5 steps to the SCIENTIFIC METHOD. Two great scientific lessons are attached as well. Both are great for PreK-2nd. Along with the lesson activities you have "HOT" Higher Order Thinking questions that will help promote cognitive development along with the literacy of the book. Another great thing about the book is that advanced language/vocabulary words are highlighted in the book for ease and as a cue for a reminder to you as you are reading the book.
As part of the instruction with the book - the last page asks students to think about what kind of scientist they will be. This is a great prompt for allowing children to turn to one other for discussion time and share what they have studied/learned about and what would they like to learn about. KWL and other graphic organizers are great for this lesson and it can be used to start off an extended project you are planning.
The worksheet can also be used with this lesson as well as other lessons. You can write the experiment/science activity topic in the box for the children or have them write it from the word you place on the board.
