This is a pop culture "get to know me" writing activity. It's perfect for the beginning of the school year or any other day when you just want your students to do some writing.
Everybody has an origin story. We are who we are because of our experiences and our past. In pop culture, the origin story is popularly depicted through comic books and superhero movies.
Using this entry point with students, the activity allows students to explain a little bit about themselves while still giving them the freedom to be creative with their writing. They will have to create an original superhero based on who they are as a person.
I've enclosed two rubrics as well. If you don't like the first rubric, you could always use the second rubric.
