This is a great activity to unlock your students' creativity!
For this activity I like to start off with brainstorming with the students the following items:
How you would feel being trapped in a snow globe? Ex. Scared, excited, etc.
What scene would be depicted in the snow globe? Ex. NYC, North Pole, etc.
What would be in the snow globe? Ex. Trees, heater, blanket, etc.
Would you try to escape?
After the students are finished writing I have the students create their snow globes. I will buy clear plates or sometimes places like Starbucks will donate lids. I trace the lid or plate on white construction paper and cut out the circle. The students draw a picture of themselves in their snow globe with details from their writing. I then glue the white circle (when complete) and writing to a piece of blue construction paper, next I hot glue the lid or plate on top of the white circle. You can also use fake snow to add some jazz!
