I created this product for my second grade students for our unit on American Heroes. After reading a biography of Helen Keller, I developed this activity to give them a more hands-on feel of what life was like for Helen. I did not find much on the web that did this, so I adapted what I found to make this! This activity is a great way to spark discussions on disabilities, overcoming obstacles, and perseverance with your students.
In this activity, the class is divided into pairs of students. One partner from each group is blindfolded, while the other student must help them perform a task (like clapping their hands or doing jumping jacks) without talking at all. After the given amount of time has passed, the partners switch places and are given another task to complete.
This activity contains 22 prompts/tasks, game instructions, and additional lesson tips.
