Product Description
If You Give A Dog A Donut Speech & Language Companion Pack includes activities to use along side the book If You Give A Dog A Donut by Laura Numeroff. The book is not included in this download. The activities in this pack use words and themes from the book to help facilitate speech and language development. Included in this pack:

Vocabulary & Grammar Activities

Page 3: Visual poster of “breakfast food” items to work on categorization or describing breakfast foods by attributes. You can also talk about what the students enjoy eating for breakfast.

Page 4: Compare/Contrast visual poster to work on comparing items from the book.

Pages 5-8: Word association match ups with pictures. Play like memory and have all the cards face down. When the student finds a word association match, they can keep the match. Many of the match ups are from words in the book. Play face up for your younger students.

Pages 9-11: Past/present verb tense sort. Use the cards to have students create sentences in present or past tense.

If You Give A Dog A Donut Story Comprehension Guide with comprehension questions and visual pictures to work on story retell.

Dunkin’ Donuts Open Ended Card Game

Object of the game: The player to collect the most donuts is the winner. If you pick up a coffee card, you get an extra turn because donuts and coffee are so yummy together. Pick up a box of donut and put one donut card back because someone stole a donut out of the box!

Directions for the game: Print up the game cards on cardstock, laminate for durability and cut out. You may want to print 3-4 sheets of the donut cards. Students take turns practicing their speech or language targets. After each turn, a student can pick up a card. The game ends when the session is over and the student with the most cards win!

Kite Craftivity

Have your students make their own kite out of construction paper! They can write their target speech sounds, word associations for breakfast, vocabulary words from the story, or grammar structures (i.e. nouns, verbs, prepositional phrases) from the book.
