Product Description
Inspired by Laura Numeroff's many books, I hope your students will have fun imagining what this story looks like and making their own illustrations. There are plenty of things to talk about, too, including—
·Alliteration
·Personification
·Story Elements
·Sequence of Events/Chronological Order
·Vocabulary/Context Clues—vole, venture, velvet, volumes
The ending leads to a new story for students to write. Encourage them to think of what might happen if they received valentines from animals. You could also encourage students to write a similar story centered around a different holiday or occasion for receiving a card or gift.
Included are a two-page comic for your students to read and illustrate, and a page of the notes above for the teacher.
If you like this activity, be sure to see my other similar activities: If You Give a Pig a Pot of Paint, and If You Give a Kid a Red and White Striped Hat.
