This packet was designed with the story of “The Day the Monster Went to School” in mind. This is a story that I, as well as many other teachers, have used for years on the first day of school; and so I wanted to create some activities to go along with it to use throughout the first few weeks of school. Included in this packet:
-a whole group read-aloud with a predictable pattern (each page is designed to promote discussion about your classroom rules and routines and many pages have places to customize the book for your own classroom rules or routines)
-a student printable book that focuses on rules and routines with an If/Then pattern
-if/then conversation cards designed for both readers and not-yet readers alike and provided in 2 sizes for partner/small group conversations or whole group conversations (great for working on those communication standards)
-a pocket chart sort of good and bad choices at school
-You Spy printable worksheets where students are asked to determine what behaviors are good choices for the situation and what are bad choices
-a good/bad choices printable sort
I also have some other Monster related products in my store. If you are looking for more ideas including another read-aloud that can be used as the sequel to “The Day the Monster Went to School,” visit my store Kirsten's Kreations.
