Before reading the book "If You Take A Mouse To School" by Laura Numeroff, discuss the importance of listening with understanding. Explain that comprehension means understanding what you read and what you hear being read aloud. This is something we always practice!
While reading, continue to help the students summarize what they have heard so far. Encourage your students to share events from the story in sequential order.
After reading and reviewing the story, have your students draw and/or write about two different events from the story. Challenge your students to draw two events in sequential order. For example, your student could draw the mouse doing a science experiment in the first box and the mouse washing up in the second box. Have your students share their work with their classmates after completion.
