This is a close reading literature study on “If You Take a Mouse to School” by Laura Numeroff. All reading comprehension activities are aligned with common core standards for reading literature. Here are the details:
*K-2 Reading Literature standards for easy reference – this unit was made with standards for 1st grade in mind but also work with standards for Kindergarten and beginning of year 2nd grade.

*Major Events – graphic organizer for drawing the major events and writing key details

*Questions About Key Details – list of text dependent discussion questions. Comes with partner question and answer posters with color coded sentence frames. (great for projecting on interactive whiteboards!)
*Words that Suggest Feelings – Wants vs. Needs, discussion questions and anchor chart/poster headers.
*Compare/Contrast Character Experiences – Mouse & Boy – student venn diagram with key. Anchor chart/poster size headers and cards for making anchor chart/poster.
*Extended Writing Craftivities
-Mouse – directions, sample, mouse templates, writing paper (color and black/white)
-Boy – directions, sample, boy cut outs, writing paper (color and black/white)
