Before students begin this writing activity, we read the book The Dandelion Seed. We talk about what the dandelion sees, hears, and feels. I then tell the students to pretend that they are a seed. They will be writing about their experience.
I give extra guidance during this creative writing assignment.
I tell the students to follow these steps:
How do you feel flying in the air?
What can they see?
Use this transitioning sentence “The wind pushed me on.”
What can they hear? (They should try to use a juicy adjective to describe what they are hearing)
Transitioning sentence “I was ready to land in my new home.”
Where did you land?
What did you grow into?
How do you feel being that plant?
