At the beginning of each lesson of rocks, I would pass out this graphic organizer and have students use their textbook or another handout to complete the graphic organizer. It provides space for students to write out important vocabulary such as: intrusive, extrusive, erosion, deposition, compaction, cementation, foliation, and non foliation. Sometimes, I split students into three groups and the groups research either igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. As they research using a textbooks or computers, they would complete the organizer, and at the end of the class, they present the information. The other students would then complete the same organizer. It is a great study tool.
