Why Illuminated Manuscripts?
Art is an engaging way to give students visual insight into literature,
whether it’s mythology, historical fiction, historical non-fiction, or
even modern works. It also lends itself beautifully to the writing and
interpretation of poetry. The added bonus is that students will have
exposure to an old art form that will likely be new to them! This lesson plan for elementary or middle school is a great enrichment activity to reinforce the understanding of literature
and the connection between art and literature. This unit includes a template, step-by-step procedure and grading rubric.
