After reading a chapter, students are asked to draw a small illustration of the events in the chapter in the corresponding chapter box and add explanations as needed. This sheet is a way to track students' independent reading progress and allows for different students to be reading different books.
Possible differentiation includes assigning a certain number of chapters to illustrate and then allowing students to choose which chapters they would like to draw. Students could also work in groups and be assigned a row or a column of drawings and then share their work with others. Instead of drawing, students have to find a online picture or a picture from other print media to represent the chapter. Use this in conjunction with my Title Timeline. This sheet could be used for more visual learners and the Title Timeline could be use with you linguistically talented students.
