This unit includes math and literacy activities I'm using in my kindergarten classroom. It includes:
Write The Room: cut the conversation hearts out(page 2 and 3), and hang them around the classroom. The children have a copy of the first page. They go around the room, and write the heart phrases in the right color word spot.
How Many More to Make 10: Children write in the heart how many more it would take to make 10 on each 10 frame.
More/Less/Equal To: Greater than, less than, or equal to with a valentine theme.
Measurement: Cut out the "candy" pieces. Children measure them with unifix cubes and write the number next to that candy picture.
Love Sentences: Cut out the word cards. Kids sort them into matching groups, then put the words into sentences and write the sentences in the matching frame on the answer sheet.
Mystery Love: Fold a piece of Large Construction paper in half. Glue the clue page on the front and the answer page on the inside. Children write 3 clues about who it is, then the answer and a picture on the inside.
Heart Grid: Cut out lots of 1" squares in valentine colors. The children pick which color will be their "1" and which will be their "2" The children glue their squares to the grid to make a heart. I cut the grids out, then display all the hearts together like a quilt.
