Help your students distinguish between sight words with similar spellings and/or sounds with these 40 self-checking puzzle cards (5 different-colored sets with 8 word puzzles in each set). These words were chosen based on the most mispronounced and/or reversed by my students.
A word list is included, as well as 5 activity sheets corresponding with each card set. These involve the student using context clues to find the missing word in each sentence. They can be printed in grayscale for individual use or printed in color, laminated, and placed in a center with a Vis-à-vis marker.
The puzzle cards are especially helpful to early readers who haven’t quite mastered their sight vocabulary. They will aid in improving their word recognition and visual discrimination skills. Older students will benefit from both the cards and the activity sheets, as miscalling these words can interfere with their reading comprehension.
