After learning about what life was like for the Pilgrims coming to settle in the new world, this book is the perfect activity to help students apply what they've learned in their own mini-book. There are nine pages of text and pictures that can be photocopied and compiled easily into mini-books. The reflection pages require students to be able to write about why they are thankful they didn't have to ride over on the Mayflower, why they are thankful they didn't have to endure life with no medicine and little food. They also must reflect on the difficult life for the children--who had to wear uncomfortable clothing and abide by many rules. At the end of this book, children get to express what they are most thankful for and what they like to do best each year on Thanksgiving. They text prompts them to write on each page, and also allows for early reading success, as many of the pages start with the same prompt. Your young students will love becoming "authors" of their own books. Parents will treasure this special book and families can read it together on Thanksgiving Day!
