This great reader's response to the story, "I'm a Caterpillar" by Jean Marzollo asks students to think about the changes that occur during the life cycle of a caterpillar. Crisp images of each stage of the metamorphosis are listed at the top of the worksheet to provide student written support. In addition, students are encouraged to use sequence words as they write, (they are two page "ones" available, one with sequential prompt words, one without). There is also a "Can, Have, Are" organizer related to butterflies as well as a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast butterflies and caterpillars. There is a writing response page students can use to write an informative or fictional piece about butterflies. There is also an adorable life cycle of a butterfly crown for students to create. This 12 paged worksheet is a great cross curricular activity. Primary writing lines and an illustration panels are also included on most written pages.
