This is easy, fun, and unforgettable for your students. First, give each student this half-sheet handout. Review with them the types of imagery (visual, auditory, gustatory, olfactory, tactile, organic, and kinesthetic.) Have them write a word or two and draw a symbol for each type of imagery. Now, take them on a walk around your school! Stop at various places along the way and ask students to see, hear, smell, etc. (Tasting might need to take place in the classroom!) Lastly, ask students to write about this experience in their journals, incorporating as many of their examples of imagery as possible from the walk.
