In this packet, student will be asked to identify the author and illustrator, genre, and point of view. Students will also be asked to write down questions and make predictions as well. There is a section with questions geared to make students think about what has been read (reader's response) and also a section with words and sentences pulled directly from the text to help students understand syllabication and the use of context clues to help understand unknown words. There are pages in the packet set aside for comprehension strategies and a plot mountain as well. Finally, there is an open book assessment that has sentence starters and asks students to provide direct details from the text as well as page numbers to help support their answers.
