This is a printable booklet I have designed to be used by the teacher and/or students in order to enhance instruction for a unit on "The History of Immigration in America." I have used this unit to help teach that immigration has always been a part of our land's history even before we became a country.
The booklet is designed to be cut in half, stapled into book form, and presented in the following chronological order: the First Native Americans, the Vikings, Spanish Exploration, English Colonization, the Pilgrims of the Mayflower, Slavery in America, Mass Immigration, Ellis and Angel Island, and Immigration Today.
Each immigration subject presented in the unit has its own page with illustrations and photos to help with the historical information provided. Pertinent vocabulary is in bold print and highlighted on each page. The file also corresponds to a unit test I have developed to assess students on each part of the booklet. I also have a vocabulary quiz available and am developing a PowerPoint presentation to accompany the unit as well.
I have used this booklet to correspond/supplement various educational videos found through such resources as BrainPOP, BrainPOP Jr., and YouTube.
