These are 2 55-minute lesson plans about contemporary issues in U.S. immigration policy. The first has students take notes on arguments for and against the DREAM Act based on 2 short videos. Students form their own opinions about this proposed legislation. The second lesson has students watch part of President Obama's 2014 speech about Immigration and identify his claims and evidence. Students evaluate the strength of his arguments. These lessons tie to literature students are reading, specifically Crossing the Wire by Will Hobbs. Both lessons include student handouts and teacher answer keys.
