Designed with the Alberta grade 7 Social Studies curriculum in mind, this activity gives students a chance to put themselves in the shoes of immigrants. It asks them to use knowledge from the textbook (Voices and Visions) and knowledge from classroom discussions (and personal experience) to write and act out a skit, write a letter, or write a diary entry as an immigrant. I used this in a blended classroom environment with students ranging from advanced to severely learning disabled or behavioural. Excellent for students who need to move.
