Immigration Unit with Lesson Plans. Included is an 18-page packet that contains lesson plans, student activities, and a teacher key for a unit on United States Immigration. It also contains: vocabulary words for students to learn, push and pull factors of why people came to America, how immigrants had to adjust to America, anti-immigrant feelings, student push/pull pages for immigrant groups such as: Native Americans, Spanish, English, African, French, Irish, German, Mexican, Chinese, Italian, Hmong, and Somali, a teacher answer key for the above topics, two letters to parents about how to hold a Heritage Day in your classroom, Ellis Island re-enactment directions and stations, and a US Citizenship test with answer key.
This project will tackle biases and prejudices your students may have toward other racial and ethnic groups. It is a great way to get the discussion started in a safe environment where students will learn the truth about each immigrant group.
