This document is a 34 question, 5-page assignment created in Word. I allow the students two 50-minute class periods to complete it. Reading comprehension is enforced as this assignment involves reading several paragraphs then answering questions about what they've just read. The questions go in order of the reading so they don't have to search through the entire document to find the answers - just read the passages above the questions - no surprises. No additional materials are needed to complete this assignment - all answers can be found by simply reading the paragraphs above the questions.
This assignment is used on the computer with a drop box such as Blackboard, PowerSchool or School Space. It can be quickly and easily converted into a printable paper copy by simply removing the asterisks and adding lines for the students to write their answers instead of typing them. I use this format often so that we can save paper by using electronic copies of assignments.
The student answers the questions by placing the cursor between the red asterisks and begins typing the answer - that way they can easily see that they've answered the question and I can easily grade the assignment by reading what they've typed in red. I love technology! Their completed assignment will look much like your answer KEY (if correct!), which is included.
If you'd like to make this a paper assignment, just remove the asterisks and add lines for the students to place their answers.
