This activity addresses misconceptions in alarmist claims about climate change, while still focusing on the severity and seriousness of this global crisis. 15 multiple-choice questions are presented with an answer key that highlights the falsehood and provides a short explanation for the misconception. A Socrative code is also included to gamify the activity.
The purpose of this activity is to show students that while claims they hear about climate change are not always true, this should not diminish the severity of what actual science is saying about the issue.
Statement #2 is considered false because the claim is supported by the fact that only 3 populations are in decline, while 1 population is increasing, 6 populations are stable, and 9 populations have insufficient data.
