This power point gives a brief overview of when to use and how to form the preterit and imperfect verb tenses in Spanish. It then goes directly into telling the story of Ricitos de Oro y Los Tres Osos (Goldilocks and The Three Bears). As you read the story with the class- the verbs are highlighted in red. See if the students can tell if the verb is imperfect or preterit. From there, go over with students why each tense is used when. Each slide has notes with an explanation of why each tense is used. At the end is a brief exercise to assess students' comprehension of the material. The answers are on the following slide. As a follow-up activity to this power point, you might have students write about a time when they were young (an embarrassing moment, a favorite birthday party, a family tradition). This will help them practice when to use each verb tense.
