I think that the concept of imperialism is difficult for the students to understand. So I designed this simulation / scavenger hunt so students can feel how it was a 'race for resources' and they work in teams, as countries, to find the most resources hidden around the room. So I bought a lot of replica resources (coal, diamonds, gold bars, cloth, tea, sugar, rice, coffee, oil, rubber, timber, cattle) but you could also print out pictures, make copies, and hide around the room. The directions and analysis are included in the PPT and there is a handout for students to analyze the value of the resources.
