How: Students will write a third-person omniscient narrative involving two young sisters who are approached by a strange woman who threatens to tell their principal "everything [she] knows about them"; students will be given a specific duration in which to complete this activity.
Materials included: 1. A detailed directions sheet. 2. A general evaluative rubric. All are WORD DOCUMENTS.
You may wish to tweak the documents to reflect your students' specific needs.
I find brief writing activities like this are especially useful in Creative Writing classes, for they emphasize core concepts in the field, but they also prime students for timed writing assessments. Further, an activity like this may make a great formative to determine students' capabilities in third-person omniscient narration.
