Goal:
To understand improper fractions and mixed numbers
visually and mathematically.

Teacher Preparation:
Print matching cards in color on white cardstock. Laminate, cut and bag for centers.
Print student response sheets on regular white paper.
Print teacher key in color.

Directions:
Students will match four cards together to form a set:
1) Improper Fraction
2) Fractions Equation with like denominators
3) Pictorial Model
4) Mixed Number

4.3C determine if two given fractions are equivalent using a variety of methods
CCSS
Explain why a fraction a/b is equivalent to a fraction by using visual fraction models, with attention to how the number and size of the parts differ even though the two fractions themselves are the same size. Use this principle to recognize and generate equivalent fractions.
