Improper Fractions Bump Game (Converting Improper Fractions to Mixed Numbers): Have your students practice converting improper fractions to mixed numbers using this fun and interactive Bump game! The only materials needed are two regular dice and 10 markers in one color and 10 in another color. I like using linking cubes since they can be “locked,” but any other type of marker also works well.
On the direction sheet, students will find their improper fraction based on their dice roll and convert it to a mixed number. Then, they will cover the pizza that shows that mixed number on the game mat. Your kids will love trying to “Bump” each other off the game mat!
The pizzas on the mat are all divided into eighths, but students will be given improper fractions in halves and fourths as well, so they get practice finding equivalent fractions.
